New York Favorite Eats

New York, my favorite place in the world? Well, I guess I have way to many favorite places but one thing I know, is that, New York is the one place where I have a “So much to eat, so little time” dilemma. Well, it’s been Googled that you can have a meal at a different restaurant every day of the year and still have to cover at least another 20 000 restaurants.

Because I love that crazy, vibey city so much, I can (and probably will) write an entire book on it, but that’s for another day. Today, I will just share my favorite restaurants and eats with you.

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day or just because in the US you cannot not have a fry-up. Make your way to Pershings Square on 42nd street across the road from Grand Central Terminal – Be Transported  Firstly, you will fall in love with the ambience of this restaurant. Secondly, the french toast with super crispy bacon and maple syrup is always a winner.

My favorite bagels? Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked Fish Reuben Reuben, Reuben.. Yes you have to repeat it three times because it is three times as good as any pastrami bagel I’ve ever put my teeth into. The portion sizes are huge, so rather share, your hips will thank you later.

Liberty Bagels Midtown | New York City Bagels, Midtown Manhattan.. A Chilli Peach Blossom team favorite. Its colourful, a feast for the eye and tummy. Here you can find bagels in red, green, orange… Yes, pretty much any colour or flavour you can think of.

Want to sit in the exact spot where “Harry met Sally” was filmed. Well, then Katz’s Delicatessen – since 1888 is just your restaurant. Yes, it is touristy and buzzing with hungry people, but here they don’t leave hungry. Trust me,  there is no way that Sally could eat a Pastrami Bagel of THAT size. It’s MAN size, BIG aeroplane size… with a taste that definitely matches the size.

Best Cheesecake… I guess this one is debatable but if you keep on going back for more, then there must definitely be something very addictive about Junior’s Cheesecake – The World’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake. Not in to big pieces of cake, them the Little Fella mini Cheesecake is just your guy. It’s just big enough to avoid the guilt.

In winter you need something hearty…

For the BEST French Onion Soup in the world. Balthazar Restaurant New York.  Ok, not just the French Onion Soup… pretty much everything on the menu of this beautiful restaurant.

Another favorite is and will remain at the Grand Central Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station, this restaurant also regularly feature in films so you might recognize it when you walk in. Please look at the menu… BUT you should only order the New England Clam Chowder. It’s the best clam chowder in the world.

BBQ, my husband loves BBQ. So hereby with our favorites:

Virgil’s Real Barbecue | Southern Style BBQ Order a combo meal and make sure to order extra cornbread. Its beyond delicious. Tiny piece of advice: a meal for two can easy feed three adults, so hold back Tiger.

Another favorite is Home – Hill Country NYC Here you can apply portion control. Yes, you pick your “poison” and pay per lbs. The meat is so tasty you might go for seconds and do me a favour, please do order a side of the Mac n Cheese. Your taste buds will love you.

Do I spot a sweet tooth? Well, here you will develop one. Have you tried Levain bakery? Your sugar addiction will thank you. They are big, gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My favorite, the chocolate chip walnut. A peanut butter lover?  Then try the dark chocolate peanut butter chip.

Pizza, yes you cannot go to New York and not have a $1 pizza slice. Well you not going to be able to eat for cheaper than this. 2 Bros. Pizza is the bomb.com. You will not get any better pizza anywhere in Mid Manhattan. It’s so good just buy two slices.

For the best view of the New York City skyline and some really good ice-cream, hop across the Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo. – BROOKLYN ICE CREAM FACTORY .

On a last a final note on food. Please if you have to greasy fast food, kindly, please, trust me you HAVE to give the old, faithful, hangover jaunt, Mc Donald’s a skip. Leave the familiar behind. Five Guys (Welcome to Five Guys) is really good, you can even give the bun a miss. Keto Shout out!!!! Did you hear me?

Then at the airport, your final and last cheat meal before your insulin and cholesterol levels start protesting, position yourself into the que at Shake Shack (Shake Shack – Serving Up Delicious Burgers & Shakes Since 2004) just eat it okay, at least it tastes better than airline food..Well, way better… and the fries are cut in a zigzaggy way, so cool.

OK, enough about food.

With love and a growling tummy.

Peach (Desiree)
